The Slim MagSafe Leather Wallet: Why We Made It This Thin
Here's the thing about most MagSafe wallets — they feel like an afterthought. A thin pouch with a magnet glued inside, sold alongside the phone case because the margin is decent and nobody expects much from it anyway. We didn't want to make that product.
The Casebellé Slim MagSafe Leather Wallet came out of a question we kept hearing from customers: can you make a wallet that matches the case? Same leather. Same colours. Same feel when you run your thumb across it. And we thought — yeah, actually. We should. So we did. Full-grain Italian leather from the same LWG Gold-rated tannery we use for every product in the range. N52SH magnets — the strong ones, not the budget grade that slides off when you sit down. Room for three cards. A profile thin enough that people genuinely ask how anything fits inside.
This page goes through everything. The leather, the magnets, how thin it actually is, seven colours, which iPhones it works with. If you already know what you want and just need to pick a colour, skip straight to the colour guide.

Why a leather MagSafe wallet
The pitch behind MagSafe wallets is dead simple. Your phone is already in your pocket — why carry a separate wallet? Stick your cards on the back and leave the billfold at home. One object instead of two. If you carry three cards or fewer on a normal day (and let's be honest, most of us do now that contactless handles everything), it just makes sense.
The problem is execution. Most MagSafe wallets out there are made from synthetic stuff that looks like it costs exactly what it does. Smooth plastic, rubbery edges, zero texture. They work. But they feel like a phone accessory — not something you'd actually choose to carry if you had options. You know the type. You've probably owned one already.
What we wanted was a wallet that felt like part of the phone rather than something stuck to it. Same leather you feel when you pick up the case. Same colour. Same weight in the hand. One material, one tannery, one feel across the whole setup. That was the brief we gave ourselves, and the Slim MagSafe Wallet is what came out the other end.
The leather
Full-grain Italian leather with a semi-aniline finish. That's the headline.
For anyone who wants to know what that actually means — full-grain is the grade where the top layer of the hide stays intact. Nobody's sanded it down or corrected the surface to mask imperfections. The grain you see is the real grain. Not a stamp, not a pattern pressed in by a machine. Semi-aniline means there's a light protective coating sitting over the dye. It gives the leather better resistance against moisture and scuffs while keeping the natural texture visible underneath. Think of it as the middle ground between raw aniline (gorgeous but marks if you look at it wrong) and pigmented leather (basically plastic with a leather label).
The hides come from the same Italian tannery we've been working with since day one. LWG Gold-rated — the Leather Working Group's highest tier for environmental and labour practices. Water use, chemicals, energy, worker conditions — all audited. We stayed with this tannery because every batch comes back consistent. That sounds boring until you've dealt with the alternative — hides that vary in softness, colour depth, and finish from one delivery to the next. Ours don't. That matters when you're selling seven colours and promising they'll match the cases.
One detail worth calling out: the leather wraps edge to edge. No exposed stitching around the rim. No bare plastic peeking through at the corners. Just leather, the whole way around. It sounds minor until you hold a wallet that doesn't do it — then you can't unsee it.
Magnets and cards
Three things matter on a MagSafe wallet. How many cards fit. How securely it sticks. Whether it falls off in your pocket when you're not thinking about it.

Cards first. Three. That covers the daily essentials for most people — debit card, credit card, ID. Maybe swap the ID for a gym pass or an Oyster card depending on your routine. You can squeeze in a fourth if they're thin (loyalty cards, membership cards), but three is the sweet spot where removal stays easy and the hold stays tight. The interior has a friction lining — we tested something like fifteen different finishes before landing on this one — so the cards don't slide out when you pop the wallet off the phone. Because that's a real problem on cheaper wallets, and it's exactly as annoying as it sounds.
Magnets. N52SH grade. Same spec we use in the Timeless Luxe cases, and it's the strongest commercially available magnet you can reasonably fit at this size. The wallet snaps on and it stays on. Through trouser pockets. Through jacket pockets. Through handbags. Through that nervous shake-test everyone does the first time they try a MagSafe wallet — you'll do it too, and the wallet won't move.
Alignment is the other bit. The magnet array is shaped so the wallet centres itself on the phone's MagSafe ring every time. No fiddling. No repositioning. It clicks into place and that's where it lives until you decide otherwise.
How slim is it
Every wallet brand says "slim." We'll let the profile speak for itself.

It sits closer to the phone than most competitors we've tested — and we've gone through quite a few in the process of designing ours. Part of that thinness comes from the leather itself. Full-grain is dense, which means you can work it thinner without losing any structural integrity. Part of it comes from how we layered the guts of the wallet. The magnet array and the card pocket are arranged side by side rather than stacked, which shaves off real thickness where most wallets waste it.
Put it on the back of a Casebellé Timeless Luxe case and the wallet almost looks like it was designed as part of the case. The leather tones match. The edges follow the same lines. The proportions just feel right together. And that's not a coincidence — we designed the wallet and the case as a pair from the beginning, not as separate products that happen to share a name on the box.
The colours
Seven options. Every one of them colour-matched to a Timeless Luxe case from the iPhone 17 series — which means you can run the wallet and the case as a matched pair. Same leather, same dye batch, same tannery. Not "close enough" matching. Actual same-run consistency.
Solar Orange
Our bestseller, and it's not particularly close. This is the colour people photograph. It pops on a desk, it catches the light in a pocket, and when you pair it with a Solar Orange Timeless Luxe case the whole setup becomes a conversation starter whether you want it to or not. Not for wallflowers. Very much for everyone else.

Solar Orange

The quiet option. It disappears against a dark phone, a dark case, a dark desk. If you don't want your wallet to draw attention and just want something that does its job — beautifully, but silently — this is the one. Second-highest seller behind Solar Orange, which tells you something about our customers.

Obsidian Black
Shop nowCognac Brown
The versatile classic. Cognac goes with tan belts, brown shoes, saddle-leather bags — it's one of those colours that flatters everything without trying too hard. Match it to a Cognac Brown Timeless Luxe and the wallet and case become nearly invisible against each other. One continuous surface of warm Italian leather. Our third most popular, and probably the safest first buy if you can't decide.

Cognac Brown

Darker than you'd guess from the name. In low light it reads almost black, and then you step outside and it turns this deep, rich British racing green that you don't see on accessories very often. It pairs naturally with Racing Green cases, obviously — but we've noticed it also looks surprisingly good against Cognac Brown, if you're someone who likes a bit of intentional contrast in your setup.

Racing Green
Shop nowSteel Blue
A mid-tone blue that catches light differently depending on the angle — which gives it more dimension than you'd expect from a product photo. Professional without veering into corporate territory. It works with navy, grey, charcoal, denim. One of those colours that just cooperates with whatever you're wearing.

Steel Blue
Shop nowStone Grey
Grey is harder to get right than people think. Go too cool and it looks like concrete. Go too warm and it turns muddy. This one sits in between — a grounding, quiet neutral that pairs well with basically anything in the Casebellé range. Good pick if you swap cases depending on your mood and want one wallet that goes with all of them.

Stone Grey
Shop nowPale Blue
The newest addition to the wallet range — designed specifically to match the iPhone Air in Pale Blue. It's lighter and cooler than Steel Blue, with a slightly softer feel to the finish that suits the Air's whole minimalist thing. If you picked up the Air, this is the wallet that was made for it. Literally made for it. We developed the colour after Apple announced the phone.

Pale Blue
Shop nowCompatibility
The wallet works with any iPhone that has MagSafe. That's iPhone 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, the entire iPhone 17 series, and iPhone Air. If your phone has the MagSafe ring built in, the wallet sticks to it. Simple as that.
It also works through MagSafe-compatible cases — ours and other brands. If the case has the magnet ring, the wallet snaps through it. Our Timeless Luxe cases are obviously the natural pairing (same leather, matching tones), but the magnets don't know or care what brand is on the outside.
One thing worth flagging though: if you're running a non-MagSafe case — one without its own magnet ring — the wallet probably won't hold well enough for daily use. The magnets in the phone alone can keep it in place on a flat desk, sure. But once you're walking, pulling the phone from a pocket, sitting down — it'll shift. Use a MagSafe case and the problem goes away completely.
Pair it with your case
We designed the wallet as a companion piece to the Timeless Luxe iPhone 17 series cases. Same leather. Same tannery. Same colour recipes run in the same production cycle. When you put a Cognac Brown wallet on a Cognac Brown case, the leather matches because it came from the same batch — not just "close enough," but genuinely the same run of hides.
If you're buying both, match the colours. It looks deliberate rather than coincidental. And because the leather is identical, the two pieces age at the same rate — no weird mismatch six months down the line where one looks noticeably older than the other. That kind of detail is hard to get right across different products, and it's one of the things we're most pleased about with this wallet.

FAQ
How many cards does it hold?
Three comfortably. You can squeeze in a fourth if it's a thin card — loyalty card, gym pass — but three is the sweet spot. The friction lining keeps them in place when you pop the wallet off the phone, so you won't find cards slipping out in your pocket.
Will it fall off in my pocket?
No. The N52SH magnets hold through daily movement — pockets, bags, jackets. The only way you'd lose it is if something physically catches the edge and levers it off, and that doesn't happen inside a pocket. We've tested it extensively. It stays.
Does it work without a case on the phone?
Yes — on any MagSafe iPhone (12 and newer). The hold is a bit weaker without a MagSafe case to amplify the connection, but it works on a desk and during most casual use. For the strongest snap, pair it with a MagSafe case.
Can I wireless charge with the wallet attached?
No. Pop the wallet off first. MagSafe charging and Qi charging won't work through the wallet and the cards inside — the magnets might hold the phone to the charger, but no power will actually transfer. Takes two seconds to remove it.
Will the leather scratch?
The semi-aniline finish on the wallet is pretty resistant under normal use — tougher than Vintage Luxe case leather because of the protective topcoat. Minor scuffs come out with a dry cotton cloth. It won't develop a patina the way vegetable-tanned leather does. The colour you buy is the colour you keep.
Is it compatible with iPhone Air?
Yes. iPhone Air has MagSafe built in, so the wallet works with it both directly and through a MagSafe case. The Pale Blue colourway was made specifically to match the Air's Pale Blue finish.
How is this different from Apple's MagSafe wallet?
Apple discontinued their leather wallet back in 2023 and switched to FineWoven — a synthetic. Ours is genuine full-grain Italian leather with a semi-aniline finish. It also colour-matches our Timeless Luxe case range, so the wallet and case look like one piece when you pair them. Apple doesn't offer that kind of leather-to-leather matching anymore.
