iPhone Leather Cases: The Complete Collection

Apple stopped making leather cases in 2023. The replacement didn't last two years. Which leaves anyone who wants a genuine leather iPhone case looking elsewhere — and discovering that most of what's out there is PU plastic with a leather texture stamped on top.

This is the alternative we built. The Casebellé iPhone leather case collection covers the iPhone 17, 16 and 15 series — including the iPhone Air — in two leathers: full-grain Nappa (Timeless Luxe) and vegetable-tanned full-grain (Vintage Luxe). Both from a Leather Working Group Gold-rated tannery. Precision-milled metal camera frames. N52SH MagSafe magnets. Custom embossing. Gift-ready packaging as standard.

This page runs through the whole collection — the leather, the construction, every model, and how to choose between the two lines. If you're just here for your phone, jump straight to your model below.

FAQs

Why a leather iPhone case

A phone case is the surface you touch most in a day — more than your wallet, your watch, or your keys. The material matters.

Silicone grips well and deteriorates quickly, collecting lint and losing shape within months. Polycarbonate protects but feels clinical. Woven fabric — Apple tried it — frays at the corners. Leather is the only case material that improves with use. It's naturally warm to the touch, it grips without stickiness, and it ages rather than wears out.

Full-grain leather in particular. That's the top layer of the hide, completely intact — where the strength and the natural grain live. Most "leather" cases use bonded offcuts or corrected-grain hide that's been sanded flat and re-stamped with a fake pattern. We use neither, in any product, at any price point.

The leather

The collection uses two leathers, and the difference between them is the most important decision you'll make on this page.

Full-grain Nappa leather is the foundation of the Timeless Luxe line. On the iPhone 17 series, it's full-grain Italian Nappa with an aniline finish — dyed through rather than coated, so the natural grain stays visible and the surface stays soft. The iPhone 15 and 16 series Timeless Luxe cases use the same full-grain Nappa construction. Smooth, consistent, and designed to hold its look through years of daily use.

Vegetable-tanned full-grain leather is the Vintage Luxe line. Tanned with natural tannins — the oldest method there is — it starts firmer and matures visibly. The surface softens, deepens in colour and develops a rich patina that records how you actually use it. After six months, no two Vintage Luxe cases look alike.

Both leathers come from a tannery rated Gold by the Leather Working Group — the highest tier for environmental and labour practices. Water use, chemical management, energy, worker conditions: all audited. Every case is hand-finished by artisans, and the leather wraps edge to edge. No exposed plastic anywhere.

What's inside the case

Leather is the surface. What's underneath is just as considered.

Precision-milled metal camera frame. The camera module is the most prominent thing on the back of a modern iPhone, and most cases treat it as an afterthought — a plastic ring with visible mould lines. Ours is metal, milled to sit level with the leather surface, protecting the lens system without obstructing it.

Camera Control Button. Cases for the iPhone 17 and 16 series include a dedicated, flush-mounted Camera Control Button. Press once to open the camera, slide to zoom, press again to shoot — the button clicks with the same resistance as the phone's own hardware. iPhone 15 series cases don't include it, because those models don't support the feature.

Luxury microfibre lining. The inside of the case — the part touching your phone's glass back all day — is lined with soft-touch microfibre. It guards against the hairline micro-scratches that hard-shell cases cause over time.

Raised bezels. The screen sits behind a 1.15mm raised lip and the camera behind its metal frame, so neither touches the surface when the phone lies flat. Bumper thickness is 1.8mm, backplate 2.3mm. It's not a rugged case and we won't market it as one — but it keeps the glass off the desk, which is where most daily damage actually happens. The whole thing still slides into a pocket without a second thought.

MagSafe and wireless charging

Every iPhone leather case in the collection is built with N52SH high-strength magnets — the highest magnet grade in common production. That means precise alignment with MagSafe chargers, wallets, car mounts and stands, and wireless charging that works without removing the case.

The magnets hold firm even when the phone warms during charging — no shifting, no disconnecting. Strong enough for a dashboard mount at motorway speeds. Precise enough to align a charger on the first drop. Compatible with the full range of MagSafe and Qi2 accessories.

Timeless Luxe vs Vintage Luxe

Same construction. Same camera frame, same magnets, same lining. The difference is entirely in the leather's character — and in what you want your case to look like a year from now.

iPhone 17 series leather cases

The current flagship series, and the widest range in the collection. Cases for iPhone 17 Pro Max, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 and iPhone Air — each precision-moulded for its specific chassis, with the flush Camera Control Button integrated into the frame.

The 17 series Timeless Luxe uses the aniline-finished full-grain Italian Nappa — the softest leather in the range. If the collection has a signature piece this season, it's the 17 Pro Max in Solar Orange: the most expressive colourway we make, worn by people who understand colour as a form of quiet confidence.

iPhone 16 series leather cases

The 16 series remains one of the most-carried iPhones, and its case range reflects that — the broadest colour selection in the collection, covering iPhone 16 Pro Max, 16 Pro, 16 Plus and 16. The Camera Control Button is fully integrated here too.

The colour to see in person is Racing Green. It carries a depth that distinguishes it from typical case colours — sophisticated rather than bold, and a considered alternative to black or brown.

iPhone 15 series leather cases

The iPhone 15 series is where Apple stopped offering leather — which makes it the series where a proper leather case matters most. Casebellé covers the 15 Pro Max, 15 Pro, 15 Plus and 15 with the same construction as the newer models: metal camera frame, N52SH magnets, microfibre lining.

This is also the natural home of the Vintage Luxe in Amber Brown — the case that starts light and natural, then deepens dramatically with use. If you've kept your 15 this long, you clearly like things that last. This case agrees with you.

iPhone 18 series: in development

Apple's next generation — the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and the first folding iPhone — is expected this September. Our pattern work has already started.

Every new chassis gets its own mould, its own camera frame tolerances, its own button placement. That work doesn't begin on launch day; it begins months earlier. Leather cases for the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone 18 Pro Fold are in development now, cut from the same full-grain Italian Nappa and vegetable-tanned leathers as the rest of the collection.

The Fold is the one we're most interested in. A folding phone is a hinge problem, and a hinge problem is exactly the kind of engineering question a leather case maker should take seriously — the case has to move with the device, not against it. More on that closer to launch.

They'll be here when the phones are. If you want first access, the newsletter at the bottom of our homepage is the quiet way to hear about it.

Choosing your colour

Colour is personal. But context helps.

Cognac Brown is the most versatile option in the collection — warm enough to add character, neutral enough to complement any wardrobe. It pairs naturally with tan leather goods.

Obsidian Black is the quietest choice. It recedes, letting the device's design speak. For those who prefer their accessories to be felt rather than seen.

Racing Green reads as sophisticated rather than bold — the considered alternative to black or brown, and the 16 series signature.

Solar Orange is the most expressive colourway in the range, and the 17 series signature. Colour as quiet confidence.

Steel Blue and Dusk Blue offer a measured departure from neutral territory. Understated enough for professional settings, distinctive enough to signal intention.

Sapphire Blue, Light Blue and Blush Pink bring the 16 series its range — from deep and formal to soft and light-handed.

Stone Grey and Desert Beige sit at the intersection of warm and cool. Grounding, tactile neutrals that age with particular subtlety.

Amber Brown (Vintage Luxe) begins with a lighter, natural tone and deepens dramatically with use. After six months, no two cases look alike.

Noir Black (Vintage Luxe) offers the same artisanal character in a deeper register — the vegetable-tanned surface develops a lustre that a polished finish cannot replicate.

Make it yours

Every case in the collection can be personalised with custom embossing — up to 4 characters, pressed directly into the leather on the back of the case. Uppercase letters A–Z, plus a small selection of symbols: ♡ ☆ & and a full stop. Three finishes: gold foil, silver foil, or blind emboss.

Blind emboss is the one we'd recommend if you're unsure. No colour, just the impression of the letters pressed into the grain — you can feel them before you see them, and in certain light the impression catches just enough shadow to be visible. Quiet. Personal. The kind of detail only you'd notice unless someone was really looking.

Gold and silver foil are more visible and pair particularly well with darker leathers — the contrast against Obsidian Black or Racing Green is sharp. On lighter colourways like Cognac Brown, the foil sits warmer and blends more gently into the surface.

Initials are the obvious choice. But we've seen short words, meaningful symbols, two sets of initials joined by an ampersand. Four characters is more than enough to make the case distinctly yours — and it turns a personalised iPhone case into a gift that's hard to get wrong.

Gift-ready packaging

We put an unreasonable amount of thought into the box. Every Casebellé case arrives in a signature rigid box with branded tissue wrap and a soft velvet pouch inside. The pouch protects the case during shipping and doubles as storage if you ever swap between cases.

It's ready to gift as-is — no rewrapping, no extra charge, no plastic clamshell to wrestle open. Paired with embossed initials, it's a considered gift that takes about ninety seconds to arrange.

Leather care

Full-grain leather asks very little. Wipe with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust. For deeper cleaning, a lightly damp cloth and natural air-drying. Avoid harsh chemicals, alcohol-based cleaners and direct heat — that's the whole list of rules.

For long-term conditioning, the Casebellé Leather Care Balm — vegetable oils and beeswax — nourishes the surface without leaving residue. Rub a small amount in with a soft cotton cloth, leave it thirty minutes, buff off the excess. Quarterly is plenty. On Vintage Luxe leather it subtly enriches the developing patina; on Timeless Luxe it keeps the Nappa supple.
